Reliable Wireless CCTV Solutions for the 2026 UK Summer Festival and Construction Season

Summer 2026 is a busy period for temporary CCTV work. Construction sites are active, festival sites are being built and many locations need surveillance before fixed cabling is practical. For installers, wireless IP CCTV is often the cleanest route when the client needs coverage quickly without trenching, long cable runs or permanent infrastructure.
The key is planning. Wireless systems can perform well, but only when line of sight, bandwidth, power, recording, monitoring and recovery of equipment are considered before installation.
The Construction Site Risk in 2026
Construction crime remains a serious issue. BauWatch’s 2025 construction crime research, based on 500 UK construction and infrastructure professionals, reported that 67% had seen crime increase over the previous 12 months and 55% experienced theft from site at least twice a year.
The most common targets are portable, valuable and easy to resell, including tools, plant, fuel, copper and cable. A single theft can delay work, disrupt subcontractors and increase insurance pressure. That is why security should be part of the pre-construction plan rather than something added after the first incident.
The Festival and Event Picture
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, widely known as Martyn’s Law, received Royal Assent on 3 April 2025. The substantive duties are not yet in force, with an implementation period of at least 24 months from Royal Assent. The SIA will act as regulator.
For larger qualifying events and enhanced-tier premises, the Act focuses on appropriate and reasonably practicable public protection procedures and measures. CCTV is not automatically required in every case, but government guidance recognises that real-time CCTV monitoring, security lighting and alert systems can support situational awareness and response.
Why Wireless Works for Temporary Sites
Construction sites and festival venues share the same problem: camera positions move, and cable routes may not exist. A properly planned wireless IP link can send HD footage from a camera at a gate, compound or entrance back to an NVR in a site office or control room.
You can browse the full range of wireless IP transceivers from FVS CCTV. Our post on wireless IP transmission for CCTV explains why line of sight matters and why link testing should happen before final camera positions are agreed.
Speccing Construction Sites
Construction systems should be adaptable. Cameras may need to move as scaffolding, materials and site access points change.
Active deterrence can be useful at compound gates and storage areas because lights and audio warnings challenge intruders early. Check the power budget carefully. Cameras with LEDs, speakers and analytics can draw more power at peak load, so review PoE power budgeting for IP CCTV before adding devices to an existing switch.
Speccing Festivals and Events
Festival deployments need fast setup, reliable operation and simple removal after the event. Pre-configuration is essential. Test camera naming, IP addresses, recording schedules, alerts and export access before equipment arrives on site.
Good positions include entrances, exits, crowd pinch-points, cash handling areas, artist compounds and back-of-house access. IP cameras with strong low-light performance are important because many incidents happen after dark.
Remote access is also critical when the NVR sits in a temporary office or production cabin. Our guide to remote access without headaches covers router and DDNS setup, including issues that arise when using 4G instead of fixed broadband.
CCTV operators may need an SIA public space surveillance licence where they monitor people or activity for guarding purposes. The licence requirement applies to the person carrying out the licensable monitoring, not simply to the installer fitting cameras.
Proposal and Supply Tips
A strong proposal should explain the site risks, camera locations, assumed power sources, wireless link requirements, monitoring arrangements and recording retention. Our guide to tender-ready CCTV proposals can help installers present those assumptions clearly.
As a security camera wholesaler, network camera wholesaler, nvrs wholesale supplier and cctv accessories supplier, FVS CCTV stocks wireless transceivers, cameras, NVRs, PoE switches and accessories for temporary deployments.
